Your Water Matters Event Coming To Newport

Southern Water is holding an event in Newport next week, giving Isle of Wight customers the chance to ask questions and find out more about its work across the Island.

The Your Water Matters event will take place at the Salvation Army Hall on Pyle Street on Thursday 10 September.

Doors will open at 1.30pm, with the event running until 6pm.

Teams from across Southern Water will be available to speak to customers, including members of its Clean Rivers and Seas Task Force, who are working to reduce storm overflows and protect the environment.

Customer service teams will also be on hand to discuss bills and financial support for people who may be struggling to pay.

Southern Water's Chief Operating Officer, Tim McMahon, will also attend.

He says the company wants to meet customers face-to-face, listen to concerns and answer questions about its work on the Island.

Visitors will be able to find out about planned investment to improve the resilience of water and wastewater networks, as well as measures being taken to prevent blockages, pollution and flooding.

There will also be information about nature-based solutions aimed at reducing storm overflows, investigations into illegally connected private pipes and Southern Water's community and schools education programme.
