A free life-skills programme supporting young people on the Isle of Wight is set to return next week.
Yellow Brick Road Projects (YBRP) will relaunch its You Matter programme on 7 January, running from 12pm–2pm at The Foyer on George Street in Ryde.
The accredited 14-week course is open to 16–35-year-olds and is designed to help participants build the skills needed for independent living.
Topics include budgeting, handling bills, understanding tenancy agreements, wellbeing, healthy relationships and preparing for work.
Small group sessions are combined with one-to-one coaching.
Everyone who completes the programme receives a £50 Amazon voucher.
YBRP says the course uses a trauma-informed approach to ensure sessions are supportive and accessible.
Previous participants have reported significant improvements in confidence, stability and future planning, with 98% noting positive changes.
Young people who have completed the course say it has helped them understand their rights, manage their money and feel more prepared to live independently.
Others have gone on to further training, education or business programmes.
Elle Snookes, Director of Business & Partnerships at YBRP, said the team is “thrilled to bring You Matter back to the Isle of Wight,” adding that the programme offers both practical tools and emotional support for those facing barriers around housing, transport and employment.
