A yellow weather warning has been issued for the Isle of Wight, with heavy rain expected to bring a risk of flooding and travel disruption today (Monday).
The Met Office alert is in place from midday until midnight, with forecasters warning that 10–15mm of rain is likely across the Island — rising to as much as 20–30mm in more exposed areas.
The rain could lead to flooding of homes and businesses, along with possible disruption to travel services and power supplies.
The Met Office says bands of heavy rain and showers will move east across southern England during the afternoon and evening.
It follows a spell of stormy weather earlier this winter which saw several areas affected by flooding and fallen trees.
Islanders are being advised to take extra care when travelling and to stay up to date with local conditions.
