A weather warning remains in force across the Isle of Wight until 6pm today (Tuesday, February 3rd), with further heavy rain expected to cause disruption and possible flooding.
Rain is forecast to persist through much of the day before gradually clearing later this afternoon.
An additional 5–15mm of rainfall could fall, and with ground already saturated, there is an increased risk of surface water flooding and slower recovery in areas affected by recent wet weather.
The Met Office warns that bus and train services may be disrupted, with longer journey times likely.
Spray and flooding on roads could also cause delays, while a small number of homes and businesses may be affected by flooding.
There is also a possibility of brief interruptions to power supplies and other services.
Residents are being urged to stay alert and prepare where necessary.
Those in flood-prone areas are advised to check whether their property is at risk and consider having a flood plan and emergency kit ready.
Drivers and public transport users should check road conditions and timetables before travelling and allow extra time for journeys.
People are also encouraged to prepare for potential power cuts by having torches, batteries and mobile phone power packs to hand, and to keep up to date with the latest forecasts, as weather warnings can change quickly.
