Witness Appeal After Man Attacked In Sandown

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 55-year-old man was assaulted in Sandown last week.


The incident happened in Leed Street between 12:45pm and 12:50pm on Thursday 19th February.


It’s reported the man was knocked out of a wheelchair he was using at the time, spat on and kicked. His bank card was also taken during the incident.


The victim suffered injuries to his head and arms. He was treated in hospital and is now recovering at home.


As part of enquiries, officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary have arrested a 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy, both from Sandown, on suspicion of robbery.


A separate 14-year-old boy from Ryde was arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.


All 3 teenagers have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
