Wightlink has rounded off its 2025 Meet the Team events by sharing a range of improvements made following feedback from Island residents and transport users.

The ferry company held its final community session of the year at Quarr Abbey, welcoming members of the public and representatives from the Solent Transport Users Group (STUG).

Senior Wightlink managers have met with the group several times throughout the year to discuss services, pricing and accessibility.

Topics raised at the events have included Multilink passes, accessibility, discounted fares, support for local teams, and horsebox pricing.

Any questions that can’t be answered on the night are followed up by Wightlink staff, with responses later published on the company’s website.

Each year, Wightlink hosts four Meet the Team sessions, which it says are a valuable opportunity to listen to customers and shape improvements.

Following engagement in 2025, Wightlink says it has introduced a number of positive changes, including:

  • A Multilink pass for Blue Badge holders and the option to register additional household users

  • Extending discounted fares to Universal Credit recipients

  • Two free foot passenger crossings for 16 and 17-year-olds

  • The Sunset Flyer travel deal for Island residents

  • Collaboration with Island MPs to offer free crossings for 18-year-olds

  • NHS dental appointments added to the 50% NHS discount scheme

  • A 20% midweek discount for vehicle travel

  • New Solent Savers retail offers for Islanders

  • Support for the IW Prostate Cancer Support Group to help travellers with incontinence issues

Wightlink CEO Katy Taylor said:

“We’ve really enjoyed meeting the community and receiving feedback at these events.
"As a lifeline transport provider, we know people feel strongly about our services, and we do make changes as a result of these conversations.”

She added that working with STUG had been particularly positive, saying:

“While it’s not always possible to agree to every request, we hope it’s clear that when we can make changes, we do.”

Provisional dates for the 2026 Meet the Team events have now been published:

  • 21 January – Ryde

  • 22 April – Yarmouth

  • 15 July – Newport

  • 21 October – Fishbourne

Venues will be confirmed soon, with all sessions running from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
