A major fundraising boost has been handed to WightAID after The Wight Brand presented a cheque for £12,453 to chair Geoff Underwood, following last month’s Film Premiere Evening at Cineworld.
The Wight Brand – led by Steve Edmonds of Island-based production company TVMI and backed by a range of Island businesses – raised the money through the special screening event, which celebrated new video content promoting the Isle of Wight.
Steve Edmonds said the team was thrilled to support a charity that helps so many local causes, adding that the total raised was “largely thanks to the generosity of our stakeholders, who are all passionate about our Island community.”
The Wight Brand is a video-led marketing campaign designed to showcase the Isle of Wight as a standout place to live, work and play.
Its content now sits on a newly launched YouTube channel, which the team hopes will help amplify the Island’s profile.
Steve added:
“We’ve just finished building the channel, but we need help to give it a kickstart.
"We’re asking everyone to visit and please subscribe – it really will help put the Island on the map.”
A QR code linking directly to the channel is available to view.
The project is supported by ten Island stakeholders:
Vestas Wind Blades, Red Funnel, Spence Willard, HTP Apprenticeship College, Bembridge Harbour, The Construction Collective, Isle of Wight Distribution, Yokogawa Marex, National Trust, and WightFibre.
