Island veterans and their families are being invited to a special Christmas gathering at the Brunswick Hotel in Shanklin later this month.

The free event, taking place on Sunday 30th November from 1pm to 4pm, aims to honour those who have served in the Armed Forces and recognise their dedication and sacrifice.

The gathering follows the recent appearance of local veteran Alec from Shanklin on This Morning, which inspired organisers to celebrate and thank all who’ve served.

Guests will be treated to tea, coffee and cake, all complimentary, as a token of gratitude.

There will also be a traditional “gunfire” served during the afternoon.

Organisers are inviting local businesses, bakers and home hobby bakers to get involved by donating cakes or treats for the event. Anyone wishing to contribute can contact the team directly via social media.

“Let’s show our veterans their sacrifices were never forgotten,” said organisers, encouraging the community to come together in support of those who served.

The Veterans Christmas Gathering promises to be a warm and welcoming afternoon filled with festive spirit, community appreciation, and remembrance.
