A Ventnor man is set to appear in court next month following an alleged break-in at a Newport shoe shop.
Police were called to Bernards, an independent shoe retailer on St James’ Street, at around 2am on Saturday 10 August, after reports of a burglary.
Officers say part of the shop’s front door had been smashed to gain entry, with broken glass found both inside and outside the premises.
As part of their investigation, police arrested a 54-year-old man on suspicion of burglary.
It has now been confirmed that Gary Andrew Dauncey, aged 54 and of High Street, Ventnor, has been charged with burglary.
He is due to appear before Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Monday 2 September.
