Residents of Vecta House care home in Newport last week joined in the vibrant
celebrations for Summerfields Primary School's "50 Fest", marking half a century
since the school first opened its doors.
The intergenerational event provided a fantastic opportunity for residents to connect with the younger generation and participate in a joyous community celebration.
Upon arrival, Vecta House residents were warmly welcomed by school staff and immediately immersed in the festive atmosphere.
The school grounds were transformed into a true festival, adorned with colourful flags and bunting, a variety of exciting stalls, pony rides, an ice cream van, and a lively dance floor with a DJ.
The residents enthusiastically embraced the festivities.
They enjoyed watching the children take pony rides, and a highlight of the afternoon was when residents Ann and Gordon challenged the children to a game of "Splat the Rat."
Ann was in fits of laughter, while Gordon proved to be a pro at popping water balloons, much to everyone's amusement.
Later, Ann opted for some colourful glitter art on her face before heading to the music area where she enjoyed a little dance.
The afternoon concluded with a memorable photo at the photo booth.
"It was a truly fantastic afternoon, and we are so grateful to have been invited to join Summerfields Primary School for their momentous celebrations, said Tanya Everson, Lifestyle Leader at Vecta House.
"It was particularly special to see the cherry blossom tree that Vecta House had donated planted proudly in the school field.
"We cherish our strong connection with the younger generation and eagerly anticipate many more years of making wonderful memories together."
