Isle of Wight singer-songwriter Amy Jolliffe has released a brand new single about her love towards the summer time, a song she penned with fellow Island musician Beth Brookfield.

Originally composed in 2022, Familiar Friend regularly features in Amy’s live sets, and is one her favourite songs she’s written.

The track features Island singer-songwriter Beth Brookfield, who co-wrote Familiar Friend with Amy when the pair were studying at Platform One together.

Recorded at Newport’s Empire Sound, Amy and Beth are joined by bassist Bobby Taylor, drummer Louis ‘Linguini’ Marshall, keyboard player Guy Summerson and guitarist Dan Ashdown, who also produced the track.

Speaking about the song, Amy said:

“Familiar Friend was inspired by mine and Beth’s love of summer and how we always feel sad when it ends. I’ve been performing it live for years and I’m so glad to finally release it!”

Amy Jolliffe will take to the stage at the Isle of Wight Festival later this month, with a performance scheduled in the Platform One tent.

Inspired by Bruce Springsteen, Fleetwood Mac and Maggie Rogers, Amy’s heartfelt lyrics are based on real life experiences.

In 2025, she was awarded funding from the Mike Howley Trust, which she used towards releasing new music.
