Ryde Town Council’s partnership with the University of Portsmouth has continued to deliver valuable results, with student consultants producing new research to help attract more visitors to Ryde Marina.

As part of the Business Consultancy Partnership (BCP) scheme, this year’s student team, Marina Works Consultancy, carried out in-depth research into ways of boosting the marina’s appeal.

Their work combined detailed analysis with strategic planning, offering a mix of practical short-term actions and longer-term, ambitious ideas.

The strength of the research led to a presentation to Ryde Town Councillors last week, helping to inform discussion and support the development of a future strategy for the marina.

The BCP scheme has been running in partnership with Ryde Town Council for the past three years and provides independent insight to support evidence-based decision-making.

Ryde Town Mayor Diana Conyers praised the students’ work, saying she was “very impressed by the innovative ideas and thorough research”, adding that it gives the council “a clear direction for the future”.

There is confidence the project will help shape the long-term future of Ryde Marina and highlights the benefits of collaboration between universities and local government.

Neville Pushparajah, Teaching Fellow at the University of Portsmouth, said he was extremely proud of the students’ work and described the partnership with Ryde Town Council as both valuable and rewarding.
