A tribute has been paid to a ‘deeply loved’ man who lost his life in a fatal collision on the Isle of Wight.

Police were called at 3.12pm on Monday, 28 July to reports of a collision on Briddlesford Road.

The collision involved a Ford Kuga and a Kawasaki motorcycle.

Sadly, despite best efforts of emergency services, 58-year-old Dave Rann, who was the rider of the motorcycle, died at the scene.

Mr Rann’s family have now paid the following tribute to him:

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dave Rann.

“Dave was a deeply loved husband, proud father, and friend who touched many lives through his warmth, generosity, and humour.

“Known for his dedication to his family and passion for life, he was a keen motorcyclist who loved spending time outdoors and being involved in his community.

“The family kindly asks that people respect their privacy, refrain from speculation, and instead remember Dave for the loving, vibrant person he was. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.”

His children added:

"Dad was our rock and the heart of our family. Losing him so suddenly is a shock beyond words.

“Our mum, who was also involved in the collision, remains in hospital. Without the incredible response from the police, paramedics, fire service and the air ambulance team, we could have lost both of our parents. Their actions gave us hope on the darkest of days, and we will never forget their efforts.

“Our dad was the most amazing man we knew. He would do anything and everything for anyone. He was our hero.”

As part of our investigation we would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who has relevant dash cam footage capturing the incident or the moments leading up to it.
