Top Fundraiser Revealed Following Record-Breaking Schools Walk The Wight

Carisbrooke CE Primary School has been revealed as the top fundraiser and trophy winner of the Schools Walk, following Mountbatten Isle of Wight's Walk the Wight 2025.

The children found out they had won in a special assembly and the news was met with a

huge cheer.

The annual Schools Walk sees children cover the equivalent of 22 miles (by walking, scooting, skipping, swimming or something else — the choice is theirs), over the months

leading up Walk the Wight.

For every 30 minutes of activity, a child can tick off one mile.

Then, together with their family and friends, they walk the final four miles on the big day in

May, from Freshwater Bay to Alum Bay.

This year, around 80 children from Carisbrooke Primary took part, raising an amazing

£3,435.90.

The money helps Mountbatten Isle of Wight’s expert staff provide 24/7 care across the

Island, in people’s homes, as well as in its inpatient unit in Newport and through the John

Cheverton Centre community space.

This year’s Walk the Wight is celebrating its 35 th anniversary. Earlier this month, it was

revealed the iconic fundraiser has already raised £515,000 in 2025, with funds still being

paid in.

Walk the Wight is also in the running for Best Event at the Red Funnel Awards 2025.
