Thousands of people packed the streets of Ryde on Saturday for this year's IW Mardi Gras, with glorious sunshine providing the perfect backdrop for one of the Isle of Wight's biggest community arts events.
Organised by New Carnival, this year's parade celebrated the theme 'Folktastic Isle: Stories, Myths and Legends', bringing together schools, community groups and carnival organisations from across the Island.
The day began with the family-friendly Mini Mardi Gras at Simeon Street Recreation Ground before the colourful parade made its way through the town, featuring giant puppets, handmade costumes, live music and hundreds of performers.
New Carnival CEO Hannah Ray said the event showcased the creativity and community spirit of the Isle of Wight.
She said:
"The sun shone, everyone looked incredible in their handmade costumes, and months of hard work paid off.
"We are incredibly grateful to every school, community group, artist, volunteer, funder, sponsor and supporter who helped make this year's event a huge success."
