Teenager Bailed Following Incident That Left Eight-Year-Old Girl With Serious Facial Injuries

A 17-year-old boy from Ryde who was arrested after an incident in East Cowes that left an eight-year-old girl with serious facial injuries has now been released on bail.
Police were called to Vectis Road at around 16:50 on Wednesday 5th March following reports that a child had been injured.
The girl, who is from Newport, suffered a serious facial injury after reportedly being struck in the face with a skateboard.
It is understood the youngster has since undergone surgery to rebuild her nose.
The 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that he has now been bailed while enquiries continue, with a return date set for 6th June.
Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
