The Chale Show released a statement in advance of the weekend's annual event following reports on Friday of one of its Directors facing a charge relating to sexual activity with a child.
James Fothergill went before Isle of Wight magistrates on Friday (July 11).
He is facing a single charge of arranging/facilitating the commission of an offence of sexual activity with a child/incite/cause to engage in penetration, in Newport, on July 9.
The 36 year-old is accused of arranging to meet a child in Matalan Car Park, in Newport, unaware that child was an undercover police officer.
Andrew Woodford, Show Manager, issued the following statement over social media:
"The information as reported came as a significant shock to myself and the entire team, who (until Friday) were unaware of any proceedings regarding a Director of Chale Show.
"Since publication, the individual is no longer a Director of Chale Show Ltd with immediate effect, and they are (no longer) involved in the (event) in any capacity.
"We want to reassure everyone that the 2025 Chale Show will absolutely be going ahead as planned.
"We're incredibly grateful for the continued support of our loyal visitors and we can't wait to welcome you all for another fantastic year."
