Bus operator Southern Vectis is marking Mother's Day by giving Isle of Wight youngsters the chance to treat their mums to a free bus journey.

Mothers will be able to travel free of charge on Sunday 15 March, provided they are accompanied by a child who purchases a Child Rover ticket from the driver or via the operator’s app.

The initiative aims to encourage families to spend time together, whether that’s heading into town, going to the cinema or enjoying a meal out.

Nikki Honer, Head of Communications at Southern Vectis, said:

“Mother’s Day is about spending time together as a family – and many children like to treat their mums to a well-deserved day out, perhaps into town, to the cinema, or for a meal.
“Southern Vectis wants to help them do this by providing transport for their special occasion.
"Our team is looking forward to seeing lots of mums out and about being treated by their children on 15 March – and we hope they all have a brilliant day together.”
