Freshwater Parish Council has launched a major fundraising drive to support plans for a new skatepark and pump track on the Isle of Wight.
A Skate Deck Art Auction officially got underway with a busy opening night at Newport & Carisbrooke Community Centre earlier this month, attracting strong support from across the community.
The event celebrated local skate culture, with displays highlighting historic Island skate spots including Shide Ramp and Golden Hill Skatepark.
Visitors also enjoyed live demonstrations from local riders, showcasing the need for a modern facility in Freshwater.
The project received a further boost with a £500 donation from High Sheriff Jacqueline Gazzard.
Freshwater Parish Clerk Kirsty Gibson says the launch showed the strength of community backing, with people of all ages getting involved and supporting the vision for a new skatepark.
From 22nd April, the decorated skate decks will go on display at venues across the Island, including The Piano Café, Dimbola, The Albion Hotel, West Wight Sports & Community Centre and Ventnor Exchange.
The online auction runs until 9th May, with all funds raised going towards the proposed skatepark and pump track, which organisers hope to begin building later this year.
