Shanklin VYCC Wins Prestigious Green Flag Award

Shanklin Voluntary Youth & Community Centre (VYCC) has been recognised as one of the UK's best green spaces after being awarded a prestigious Green Flag Award.

The international quality mark recognises well-managed parks and green spaces, with Shanklin VYCC honoured for its maintenance of the VYCC site and other locations across Shanklin.

The award comes as the Green Flag Award scheme celebrates its 30th anniversary.

A record 2,391 parks and green spaces across the UK achieved Green Flag status this year, recognising the hard work and dedication of the teams who maintain them for residents and visitors.

Paul Todd MBE, Green Flag Award Manager at Keep Britain Tidy, said:

"Parks are essential public spaces that support our wellbeing, our communities and our economy.

"With public services under pressure, investing in parks is not a luxury, it's a practical, preventative solution and one of the most visible ways to improve people's quality of life."
