Wednesday proved a very special day for one Island couple — Arthur and Mavis Mew, who celebrated an incredible 67 years of marriage this week.
Arthur and Mavis tied the knot on 8 October 1958 at Shanklin Methodist Church, beginning a love story that has spanned more than six decades.
In a beautiful family tradition, their daughter Maria married her husband Eddie on the same date, exactly 25 years later — meaning the family celebrated two anniversaries on one very special day!
The couple spent their lives farming across the Isle of Wight, working at Greenwood Farm, Moor Farm in Godshill, Apse Manor Farm in Shanklin, and finally Cliff Farm — dedicating their years to hard work, community and family.
Arthur and Mavis are residents of Orchard Care Home in Newport, where they were joined by daughters Jacqueline and Maria to celebrate the special day.
