A follow-up appeal has been issued as efforts continue to find a missing dog in Sandown.
The dog has been missing since Saturday, with volunteers from Drone SAR For Lost Dogs IOWÂ carrying out extensive searches day and night.
Despite ongoing efforts, she has not yet been safely recovered.
Those involved in the search say well-meaning members of the public are unintentionally making the situation more difficult by attempting to approach the dog, causing her to panic and run further away.
The dog is described as extremely nervous and timid, and will run at the slightest noise, eye contact or attempt to get close.
People are being strongly urged not to call out to her, not to make eye contact, and not to try to catch her.
Search teams say it is vital the dog is allowed to settle in one area so a safe and controlled plan can be put in place to recover her.
They are also asking members of the public not to go out searching, as this can push the dog further away and delay efforts to bring her home safely.
Anyone who believes they have seen the dog is asked to report the sighting immediately by calling Drone SAR For Lost Dogs IOW on 07876 011574 or the TrackAdog team on 07855 018337.
Searchers say every reported sighting is crucial in helping build a picture of the dog’s movements and improving the chances of a safe recovery.
