Sailings between Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight have been cancelled this afternoon following a berthing incident.
Wightlink says a heavy berthing incident at its Gunwharf terminal has caused damage to port infrastructure and the vessel St Clare.
As a result, the operator is currently unable to load or unload either vehicles or foot passengers on the Gunwharf–Fishbourne route.
All sailings are cancelled until at least 3:20pm from Gunwharf in Portsmouth and 4:20pm from Fishbourne while assessments are carried out and safety checks completed.
Passengers due to travel on the route are being advised that no alternative sailings will be available before 4:20pm.
The company says teams are working to minimise disruption and assess when services can safely resume.
Other routes operated by Wightlink are running as normal.
Customers with urgent travel plans are being urged to consider alternative arrangements and to check the latest updates via the operator’s website and official channels.
UPDATE 3.50pm
A statement from Wightlink has updated the situation this afternoon:
"We apologise for the disruption today.
"We hope to resume service on this route starting at 17:20 from Fishbourne and 18:20 from Portsmouth Gunwharf.
"Our phone lines are very busy, so we recommend checking our website for the latest news."
