All Saints Church in Ryde has announced the start of major renovation works to its main church building, with the project commencing on 10th July and expected to complete in early November 2025.
The extensive works will see a new heating system, sound system, and flexible seating installed using the church’s original pews alongside chairs — all integrated carefully with the church’s historic features. A new café area at the rear of the building is also planned, aiming to create a more welcoming and community-focused space throughout the week.
Developed in consultation with the Victorian Society, the renovations will retain key features such as the central cross of Victorian tiles and 60 original pews, while modernising the space for current and future use.
Rev Heath Monaghan, Team Rector, said:
“This work will prepare us for the next stage of our mission to Ryde, equipping us to offer a warm welcome to the whole community in a space that honours both tradition and transformation.”
Church life will continue during the renovation. The 9.30am Traditional Sunday Service will be held in the church hall, while the 11.00am Contemporary Service and Kids’ Church will also move there temporarily but may relocate again due to growing attendance. All other groups using the hall will continue as normal.
Regular updates on the project will be available at: www.ryde.church/refurb.
