Ryde Groups Share £224,000 In Community Grants

Twenty-three community projects in Ryde are set to share £224,000 in funding.

The money comes from the Ryde Neighbourhood Board's first community grants programme, with around 90 applications considered.

Successful projects include refurbishment work at the Vectis Boating and Fishing Club, support for homeless veterans and a scheme offering early dyslexia diagnosis.

Funding will also provide furniture for young people moving into their own homes after leaving The Foyer, support music opportunities for young people and help develop local sports clubs.

Other projects include improvements to Ryde Library, a new trailer for Ryde Carnival and new cooking courses at John's Club.

The grants are funded through the government's Pride in Place programme and were awarded to projects covering community, health and wellbeing, sport, heritage and the arts.

The Ryde Neighbourhood Board says its major grants programme remains open until 16 October.

It also says it is working on separate funding for local businesses and considering a dedicated fund for health projects.
