Vectis RFC has hailed its 2026 Isle of Wight Festival of Rugby as a major success, drawing around 5,000 attendees, including 3,500 visitors to the Island.
Hosted at Medina College, the event is now recognised as the UK’s largest youth rugby festival.
The weekend showcased the club’s core values of teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship, with strong performances across all age groups. Highlights included the Under 10s’ unbeaten run, the Under 12s lifting the Festival Shield, and standout teamwork from the Under 9s in a full-pitch try described as “international quality.”
Vectis also announced new club ambassadors, Terry O’Neill and Amy Dale, recognising their contribution to the festival’s growth and delivery.
Chairman Allan Bridges praised the effort behind the event, thanking volunteers, local businesses, and supporters for delivering a weekend that boosted the Island’s economy and profile.
The season concludes with the Vectis Awards Night on May 7th, followed by a special Finals Day later this month featuring World Cup winner Jason Robinson.
Vectis RFC says it is now focused on expanding participation and building on this year’s success.
