After successfully lobbying for a new community banking hub, Richard Quigley MP is
pleased to update that a new temporary hub will be arriving in East Cowes in April
2025.
Cash Access UK—a company funded by the UK’s major high street banks to
provide banking services to communities—have secured the temporary location with
the support of East Cowes Town council.
Banking hubs work as shared banking spaces, operating similarly to traditional bank
branches but accessible to customers of all banks.
The temporary hub, set to open in the coming weeks, will be run by Post Office employees.
This means customers, regardless of their bank, can withdraw and deposit cash, make bill payments, and carry out routine banking transactions locally.
The temporary banking hub will be a great asset for the residents and businesses of East Cowes alike ensuring the community can have more immediate access to banking facilities, while still being available to Cowes residents.
Despite extensive efforts to secure a permanent venue in Cowes for an April 2025 opening, no suitable location was found in time.
However, with the temporary site now in place, the search for a permanent location in Cowes will continue.
Cash Access UK have signed an LPA for the Temporary Banking Hub which will be located in The East Side Curve, York Avenue, East Cowes.
Richard Quigley MP celebrated the announcement stating:
“One issue that constituents raised time and time again during the election campaign was the lack of banking facilities in Cowes and East Cowes.
"I am therefore thrilled pleased to see that the banking hub will be set up and running and accessible to residents in the coming weeks
“While the Cash Access UK team remain on the lookout for a permanent home for the banking hub in West Cowes, I am pleased that they understand the pressing need for this facility now and have allowed island residents to gain greater access to their bank.
“I would like to thank East Cowes Town council for their support in securing the location.”
