Residents Advised Of Council Service Changes During Isle Of Wight Festival

The Isle of Wight Council has announced a number of temporary service changes ahead of this year's Isle of Wight Festival.

The authority says it is working closely with festival organisers and partner agencies to ensure the Island remains safe, well managed and running smoothly during the event, which takes place at Seaclose Park from 18 to 22 June.

While most essential services will continue to operate, some council facilities and departments will have altered opening hours due to their proximity to the festival site.

The Seaclose offices in Newport will close from midday on Thursday 18 June and will partially reopen on Monday 22 June, depending on the service.

Normal operations are expected to resume on Tuesday 23 June.

Residents are being encouraged to visit in person before the festival period only if absolutely necessary.

The Register Office will close from midday on Thursday 18 June and remain closed on Friday and Saturday.

Any marriage ceremonies scheduled during that time will take place at County Hall in Newport instead.

Planning Services, including Building Control, will suspend their Wednesday walk-in session on 17 June and close their offices from midday on Thursday until Monday 22 June.

Residents are being encouraged to use online services where possible.

The Coroner's Office will also be closed to face-to-face appointments during the festival period, although telephone enquiries will still be accepted.

At 1Leisure Medina, swimming lessons will not take place on Wednesday 17 June.

The centre will be open until 2pm on Thursday before closing from Friday to Sunday.

It will reopen at 6am on Monday 22 June, with swimming lessons resuming as normal.

The council has confirmed that waste and recycling collections will continue as scheduled throughout the festival.

Residents are being asked to ensure bins are presented on time and are easily accessible to collection crews.

Newport Cemetery will remain accessible, although entry will be restricted to The Quay steps and parking will be limited to Blue Badge holders.

Meanwhile, the Cowes Floating Bridge will operate an extended timetable throughout the festival weekend to help accommodate increased demand.

A dedicated 24-hour complaints line will also be available for residents wishing to report festival-related noise or licensing concerns.

The Isle of Wight Council has thanked residents for their patience and cooperation during one of the busiest periods of the year and says extensive planning is in place to minimise disruption while supporting the Island's flagship event.
