The Isle of Wight County Record Office has reopened following a period of essential maintenance.
The office reopened today (Monday 22 December), operating by appointment only for its first two days.
Opening times today will be from 9.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4.30pm.
As usual, the Record Office will be closed on Tuesday, before reopening again on Wednesday 24 December, from 9.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4pm.
Visits on both days will again be strictly by appointment.
The service will then reopen as normal on Friday 2 January 2026.
During this period, the Record Office continues to welcome enquiries and staff will assist where possible.
Catalogues for many collections remain available online through the National Archives’ Discovery Catalogue.
The FindMyPast website and the British Newspaper Archive can also be accessed via local libraries.
The Record Office has apologised for any inconvenience caused and says it looks forward to welcoming researchers back.
Anyone needing to get in touch can email record.office@iow.gov.uk or call 823820.
