Red Funnel has been shortlisted for Ferry Operator of the Year at the National Transport Awards 2026.
The nomination recognises the ferry operator's support for the Daisy Ring Bus, a community transport service that helps Isle of Wight residents travel to the mainland for cancer treatment.
When the service faced closure in 2025, Red Funnel backed efforts to save it, supporting the creation of a Community Interest Company to keep it running.
The company continues to provide free ferry travel and parking for Daisy Ring Bus volunteer drivers, as well as flexible bookings for patients whose treatment schedules change at short notice.
Red Funnel is one of several operators shortlisted for the award, with the winner due to be announced in London on 1 October.
Chief Executive Fran Collins said the recognition reflects the dedication of staff and the company's commitment to supporting Island communities.
She added that Red Funnel's role is about "much more than transporting people between the Island and the mainland", highlighting the importance of connecting Islanders with healthcare, education, employment and family.
