Cross-Solent ferry operator Red Funnel has confirmed the return of its winter timetable for vehicle ferry services, coinciding with the start of the company’s annual vessel refit programme aimed at improving reliability and performance.

Running from Tuesday 4 November to Thursday 26 March, the timetable will see Red Funnel revert to a two-boat service across the Solent.

During this period, Red Eagle will undergo a major engine service, while Red Falcon and Red Osprey will receive minor maintenance. Red Falcon will also have a Voith propeller exchange as part of the works.

To support long-term reliability, the operator will also introduce a temporary timetable for its Hi-Speed Red Jet service between Sunday 9 November and Sunday 30 November.

Red Jet 6 will receive generator maintenance and upgraded passenger cabin features, including new carpets and improved seating, while Red Jet 7 is scheduled for its refit in the New Year.

Neil Chapman, Operations Director at Red Funnel, said:

“Reliability and punctuality are our top priorities.
"We strategically time our refits for the quieter winter months so we can maintain a full schedule in summer while still operating an extensive winter timetable.
"These upgrades are essential to maintain compliance, enhance the customer experience and ensure a dependable service all year round.”

Red Funnel says it will release details of its Christmas timetable later this year, supporting Islanders travelling to see family, attend festive events or welcome visitors to enjoy the Island over the holiday season.
