Priory School's Year 11 pupils were given a memorable send-off as staff, fellow students and families came together to celebrate the Class of 2026.

Continuing a long-standing school tradition, the red carpet was rolled out as the leavers made their way through the school dressed in their finery.

Staff, pupils and parents lined the route, creating a lively atmosphere with an array of musical instruments as they cheered on the departing students.

As the Year 11 pupils reached the school gates, they were greeted by family and friends for photographs before boarding the school's vintage open-top bus, Old Gal, for their final journey together.

The bus travelled over the Island's Downs before arriving at the Lakeside Park Hotel in Wootton, where Principal Peter Lloyd and members of the school's pastoral and academic staff were waiting to welcome them.

The leavers enjoyed an evening meal in the hotel's picturesque surroundings, making the most of the sunshine as they celebrated the end of their time at Priory School.

The evening concluded with speeches from Head Boy Sam Hayles and Head Girl Constance Stockley, who reflected on their time at the school and looked ahead to the future.

Fellow leaver Galt Brouwer also delivered an impromptu and heartfelt speech celebrating the friendships and camaraderie built during their years together.

Principal Peter Lloyd praised the achievements of the Class of 2026, saying:

"The boys and girls in the Class of 2026 have worked incredibly hard for their GCSEs and other examinations.
"We wish them every success in the next stage of their education and careers.
"We will miss them all and they are very deserving of a super summer break."

The celebrations marked the end of an important chapter for Priory School's Year 11 pupils, who will now await their GCSE results before beginning the next stage of their education or careers.
