More than 2,300 homes and businesses in Newport were left without electricity this morning after a fault on the local power network also knocked out traffic lights at locations including Coppins Bridge.

The outage was reported shortly before 6.55am, affecting around 120 postcodes across the Staplers area and the wider PO30 region.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) says engineers have been sent to the area to work on restoring supplies.

At its peak, 2,325 customers were without mains electricity.

However, there has been a significant improvement this morning, with power now restored to the majority of affected properties.

As of 7.29am, 222 homes and businesses remained without power, with SSEN estimating that supplies should be fully restored by 10am.

Residents affected by a power cut can contact SSEN's dedicated helpline by calling 105.

The company also provides updates through its social media channels and via its mobile app, where customers can report faults, check outages, track progress and sign up for notifications.

What I like about eggy car is how simple the controls are. Most of the challenge comes from finding the right balance instead of learning complicated controls.
