Polling stations are opening across the Isle of Wight for today’s local elections, with voters urged to remember photo ID.

Residents must present an accepted form of identification before receiving their ballot paper, including a passport, driving licence or approved travel pass.

Isle of Wight Council says anyone without valid ID will not be able to vote in person.

Polling stations are open from 7am until 10pm.

Voters are advised to check they have the correct ID before heading out to avoid being turned away at the polling station.
