Police Investigate Suspicious Incident In Wootton Involving Child

Police are appealing for information following a concerning incident involving a child in Wootton.

Officers were called at 4:04pm yesterday (Thursday) after reports that a man approached a nine-year-old on Church Road at around 3:45pm.

It’s understood the man briefly grabbed the handle of the child’s backpack before leaving the area in a blue van.

The child was not injured.

Police say enquiries are ongoing to identify the individual involved and establish the full circumstances of the incident.

Officers are carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area and have increased patrols locally to provide reassurance.
