A police cordon was put in place outside Central Stores in Wroxall this morning (Thursday) after a brick was thrown through the shop’s front window during an early-hours break-in.
The painted brick smashed the lower pane of the shopfront, scattering glass across the pavement.
Blood was visible inside the store, suggesting the intruder may have been injured by the broken glass.
It is not yet known whether anything was stolen, and police have not confirmed any arrests.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said:
“We were called shortly before 5am this morning following reports of a break-in at Central Stores on West Street, Wroxall.
"Officers attended and remain at the scene as enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances and identify those involved.”
The investigation is ongoing.
