Police are investigating allegations that tens of thousands of pounds were stolen from the public purse in connection with employee fraud at Ryde Marina.
It is claimed that up to £60,000 may have been taken from marina operations — money that would otherwise have been used to support local services in Ryde.
Concerns were raised earlier this year about missing funds, prompting Ryde Town Council to commission an independent internal investigation.
Following its findings, the matter was escalated in line with council procedures and reported to Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary.
A spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed:
“We are currently investigating a report received from Ryde Town Council relating to alleged employee fraud at Ryde Marina.
"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.”
