Police Cordons Put In Place Following Incident In Ryde Town Centre

Police cordons have been erected in the centre of Ryde this evening (Monday) following an incident on Green Street.

Officers remain at the scene near the junction with High Street and St John’s Road, where a section of the road has been taped off around two benches at the lower end of Green Street.

The exact nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed.

There are currently no obvious signs of damage or injury within the cordoned area.

As a result of the ongoing police presence, Green Street is closed between the High Street and Station Street junctions.

Paramedics were also called to the scene earlier in the evening, although ambulance crews have since left the area.

It is not currently known whether anyone was taken to hospital.

Emergency services have been in attendance since around 9.30pm.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has been approached for comment, with a further update expected on Tuesday morning.
