Police Appeal After Series Of Shoplifting Incidents Across The Island

Police are appealing for witnesses following a string of shoplifting incidents in Ryde, Newport and East Cowes.
The most recent incident happened between 12.05pm and 12.15pm on Thursday 4 December, when a man reportedly entered Tesco Extra on Brading Road, Ryde, and left with £145.50 worth of alcohol without paying.
This follows two similar incidents:
Thursday 27 November – Sainsbury’s, Foxes Road, Newport
Saturday 29 November – Waitrose, Well Road, East Cowes
On both occasions, a man reportedly left the stores with alcohol and meat products of similar value.
Police have now released an image of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
He is described as:
White, aged 50–70
Stocky build
Grey/white hair
Anyone who recognises him, or who witnessed anything suspicious at the time, is asked to call 101, quoting 44250547166.
Officers are also keen to hear from anyone with CCTV, dashcam, mobile or doorbell footage that could help.
