Nominations Open For 2025 Isle Of Wight Sports Achievement Awards

Do you know a rising sporting star, a local legend, or that unsung hero who keeps your club running behind the scenes?

Now’s your chance to shine a spotlight on them — nominations are officially open for the 2025 Isle of Wight Sports Achievement Awards.

Sponsored once again by WRS, the annual awards celebrate the very best of Island sport — from outstanding young athletes and dedicated volunteers to incredible teams and lifelong contributors.

This year, the nomination window has been brought in line with the school calendar, running from 5th September to 31st October.

That means it’s easier than ever for schools and clubs to put forward their sporting stars.

Sophie Jackson, Chief Operations Officer at WRS, said:

“We have an incredible amount of talented sportspeople on the Island, and the awards really showcase that.

"They are a celebration of all that’s great in sport on the Isle of Wight.

"If you know someone who performs at a high level, individually or as a team, make sure you put them forward for an award.”

The event is now run by IW Sports Achievement Awards Ltd, a not-for-profit company set up separately from the Isle of Wight Sports Foundation.

While the structure has changed, the mission remains the same — to celebrate Island sport and support its future.

Chair of the new awards company, Claire Beasley, said:

“We hope the change of nomination period will encourage more people to put their thinking caps on and nominate the people and teams from their club.

"We’d particularly love to see more nominations coming in from secondary schools this year.”

Any surplus from the event will be donated back to the IW Sports Foundation’s grant scheme, helping to support even more sporting opportunities across the Island.
