No Smoke Without Fire: Police Seize Suspected Counterfeit Tobacco

Police swooped on a Newport business yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) in a dramatic crackdown on counterfeit goods.
At around 12:30pm, officers executed a warrant at a commercial premises on Orchard Street alongside Trading Standards, as part of an ongoing investigation.
Inside, a stash of suspected counterfeit tobacco products was uncovered and seized.
A 32-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of offering or exposing for hire goods bearing a false trademark. He has since been released on bail until December 31 while enquiries continue.
The raid comes as authorities continue their push to protect consumers from dangerous fakes and safeguard legitimate local businesses.
