Newport Man Arrested Following Report Of Sexual Assault

A 29-year-old man from Newport has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault following an incident involving a woman in her 60s.

Police received a report at around 10:50 on Thursday 28 May alleging that a sexual assault had taken place at an address in Newport.

The offence is reported to have occurred the previous evening at around 10pm.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed today (Wednesday) that a 29-year-old Newport man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.

He has been released on bail with conditions until 28 August while enquiries continue.
