New App Launches To Help Islanders Find Local Events

A new app has launched to bring events taking place across the Isle of Wight together in one place.
Wight Explorer has been developed by Islanders Shane Smith, Fiona Jeffery and Matt Jeffery and is designed to make it easier for residents and visitors to find things to do.
The free app covers events ranging from major festivals and live music to theatre, markets, family activities, community events and car boot sales.
Users can browse by category or date, save events to create a personalised schedule and receive reminders through push notifications.
The project has been developed with Isle of Wight design and development agency Brightbulb, with its creators establishing Wight Explorer as a new Island-based startup.
The team says it also hopes the platform will provide event organisers, venues and businesses with another way to reach potential audiences.
Wight Explorer is available free through the Apple App Store and Google Play.
