Island Roads has announced a series of temporary road closures across the Isle of Wight over the coming weeks for utility works, carriageway repairs, footway maintenance and other essential improvements.
Among the earliest closures:
Bullys Hill, Brading – closed from Monday 2 March until Wednesday 4 March
Gort Road, East Cowes – closed from Monday 2 March until Friday 13 March
Godshill Road and Southford Lane, Whitwell – closures between 4 and 9 March
A number of shorter daytime and overnight closures are also planned from late February into early March in areas including Ryde, Newport, East Cowes, Bembridge, Totland, Brighstone, Gurnard, Lake, Rookley, Shanklin and Newbridge.
Longer-term closures are scheduled in Wroxall, where St John’s Road and Redhill Lane will shut for up to nine weeks from Monday 2 March until the end of April for structural works.
Further roads affected over the wider period include Staplers Road, Fairy Road (Seaview), Fairlee Road, Fairlee Link Road, and Military Road in Brighstone, with closures expected at various times between late February and April for maintenance and resurfacing.
Drivers are advised that diversion routes will be signposted locally, and Island Roads says affected residents and businesses will receive advance notice where possible.
All timings remain weather dependent.
