A series of temporary road closures and traffic restrictions are set to come into force across the Isle of Wight over the coming weeks.

Island Roads, on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council, has issued a wide-ranging notice covering dozens of roads affected by utility works, resurfacing, drainage improvements and other maintenance schemes.

Among the short-term closures, Leeson Road in Ventnor will shut from 7th to 11th May, while Mitchell Avenue in Ventnor is due to close between 4th and 6th May.

Park Lane in Shorwell will also be closed from 5th to 7th May, alongside Kingston Road in the same area.

In Cowes, Queens Road will be closed between 6th and 8th May.

A large-scale programme of works between 1st May and 12th June will see rolling closures, some lasting between one and 15 days, affecting multiple locations including Castle Street in Carisbrooke, Brighstone Road in Brook, St Albans Road and Bonchurch Shute in Ventnor.

Further disruption is expected in Newport, East Cowes and Brading, with roads such as Staplers Road, Rowborough Lane, Castle Street, Well Road and Dover Road all subject to temporary closures or restrictions as part of ongoing maintenance.

Drivers should also be aware of temporary one-way systems and parking restrictions in parts of Newport from 26th April through to mid-May, alongside a closure of Watergate Road until early June.

In addition, a number of short-duration closures will take place between late April and early May across the Island, including in Ryde, Totland, Freshwater, Godshill and Porchfield.

Separately, Madeira Road in Seaview will be closed on 4th May to allow the Seaview Street Fair to take place safely.

Motorists are being advised to expect delays, follow signed diversion routes and allow extra time for their journeys, with exact dates and access arrangements communicated locally ahead of works.
