A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after a crash in Lake which also involved a pillion passenger.
Emergency services were called to Lake Hill shortly before 7.20pm yesterday (Monday) following reports that a motorcycle had crashed, throwing both people on board onto the road.
The rider was found injured in the carriageway, while the male pillion passenger was on the pavement.
Police subsequently closed Lake Hill in both directions, with traffic diverted through Perowne Way.
Southern Vectis services on Routes 2, 3 and 8 were also diverted while the road remained shut.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service treated the injured rider at the scene, with firefighters from Shanklin and Ventnor also attending.
A cordon was put in place while emergency crews dealt with the casualties and carried out investigations.
The injured motorcyclist was later taken to hospital, and Lake Hill reopened in both directions at around 9.24pm.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is expected to provide further information about the collision this morning (Tuesday).
