More Island Children Seeing NHS Dentists

More than 2,200 additional children on the Isle of Wight have been seen by an NHS dentist over the past year.

New NHS figures show 2,294 more children received NHS dental care compared with the 12 months before the 2024 General Election – an increase of 23%.

Isle of Wight West MP Richard Quigley says the rise follows work to bring together the local NHS Integrated Care Board and dentists across the Island, helping to increase the number of available appointments.

He said the figures were “really encouraging”, but added that they were “only the beginning” of efforts to improve NHS dentistry.

Mr Quigley said improving access to NHS dentists became one of his priorities after hearing from Islanders about difficulties getting appointments during the 2024 election campaign.
