A glamorous Moonlit Masquerade Ball at GG’s Bar & Restaurant has raised more than £5,000 for Island charity The Wight Brainy Bunch, helping local families affected by brain tumours.
Held on Saturday 1st November, the black-tie event saw 240 guests arrive in sparkling masks and evening wear for a night of fine food, live music and fundraising. Performances from Andy Hicks, Spike Oatley, Spammy Oatis and The Strand kept the dance floor buzzing throughout the evening.
Founded by Mark and Kathryn Grimes after Mark’s own brain tumour diagnosis in 2015, The Wight Brainy Bunch provides financial and emotional support to Islanders living with brain tumours — the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40 in the UK.
Kathryn Grimes said:
“We were absolutely delighted with the success of the evening.
"It was a truly magical night, and we’re so grateful to everyone who attended, donated prizes, and helped make it such a wonderful success.”
Guests enjoyed a sparkling drinks reception followed by a two-course dinner, with GG’s Bar & Restaurant providing a stunning venue transformed to fit the Moonlit Masquerade theme.
The charity extended heartfelt thanks to GG’s for their hospitality, Morgans Catering for the superb food, and the many Island businesses and individuals who donated raffle and auction prizes.
Special recognition was also given to event sponsors Harris Fowler Solicitors, Enable Law and James Westcott for their continued support.
The annual Black-Tie Ball has become one of The Wight Brainy Bunch’s most popular fundraisers — combining elegance and community spirit to raise vital funds for Islanders facing the challenges of a brain tumour diagnosis.
