With temperatures dropping and the festive season fast approaching, Isle of Wight community group Mindset Bros has launched 100 Winter Survival Kits to support people facing homelessness across the Island.
Each kit includes more than 20 essential items designed to offer warmth, comfort and safety during the coldest months of the year.
Beanies, scarves and gloves are included alongside first aid kits, mini torches and key hygiene products — all chosen to provide both immediate relief and practical day-to-day help.
The kits will be distributed through frontline organisations working with the Island’s homeless community.
Two key locations will hold and hand out the kits:
The Congregational Church, Pyle Street, Newport – coordinated by Mark
Two Saints, Sandown – coordinated by Becky
Mindset Bros say the initiative comes at a critical time, with cold weather significantly increasing risks for those without secure accommodation.
Founder Ross Taylor said:
“These survival kits are about more than supplies — they’re about dignity, warmth, and reminding people that they haven’t been forgotten.
"Winter can be brutal, and even small items can make a huge difference to someone’s wellbeing.”
The organisation has credited the project’s success to the generosity of supporters.
A large portion of the items was funded by Milford Del, while Head of Fundraising Ambassadors Richard Fox and Charlie Harris played a key role in raising money and awareness.
Mindset Bros also thanked everyone — individuals and businesses — who donated or shared the initiative.
Thanks to this collective effort, 100 people on the Isle of Wight will receive vital supplies and support this winter.
Mindset Bros continue their wider mission to support men’s mental health, strengthen community connections and ensure vulnerable Islanders feel seen, valued and supported.
The group is encouraging the public to remain compassionate all year round, reminding people that supporting the homeless shouldn’t be limited to winter.
