Man Remains In Custody After Cowes Crash

A 45-year-old man from Cowes remains in police custody following an arrest on suspicion of drink driving after a crash in the town last night (Sunday).


Isle of Wight Police officers were called at around 7pm to reports of a multi-vehicle collision on Newport Road, near Cowes Medical Centre.


No injuries were reported.


Paramedics and a fire appliance from Cowes also attended the scene.


The road was closed for around two hours while emergency services dealt with the incident and the vehicles were recovered.


The man arrested remains in custody this morning (Monday).


A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed:

"Officers were called at 6.58pm on Sunday, March 1 to a collision on New Road, Cowes.
"The collision involved three vehicles.
"No injuries were reported. A 45-year-old man from Cowes has been arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level above limit.
"He is currently in police custody."
